Last updated: April 2026

Afrikabal Ltd. ("we", "us", "GetJustly") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the GetJustly platform.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, country, and account type (client or lawyer).

Case & Legal Data

Depending on your role, we process case descriptions, legal documents, complaint records, court references, and case status information. This data is essential to providing the legal services facilitation functionality of the platform.

Evidence Data

Evidence submitted through our preservation tools is securely stored with cryptographic hashes, timestamps, and metadata. Evidence files may include photos, documents, audio recordings, and other digital media.

Communications

Messages between clients and lawyers conducted through the Platform are encrypted and stored to maintain a record of the professional relationship. Communications protected by lawyer-client privilege are treated with the highest level of confidentiality.

Technical Data

Browser type, IP address, device information, login timestamps, and session data for security and platform improvement purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Operate the Platform — facilitate lawyer matching, case management, evidence preservation, and communications.
  • Verify identity — ensure clients are real individuals and lawyers hold valid bar registrations.
  • Provide AI assistance — power our legal guidance tools with case-relevant context (without exposing privileged data to other users).
  • Maintain security — detect unauthorized access, fraud, and system abuse.
  • Improve our services — analyze anonymized usage patterns to enhance platform performance.
  • Legal compliance — fulfill our obligations under applicable data protection and legal services regulations.

3. Lawyer-Client Privilege

GetJustly recognizes and protects lawyer-client privilege. Communications between a client and their engaged lawyer through the Platform are:

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Not accessible to GetJustly staff or AI systems in unencrypted form.
  • Not shared with any third party except as required by law or court order.
  • Subject to the same legal protections as traditional lawyer-client communications.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with:

  • Your selected lawyer or client — case-relevant data is shared with parties you have engaged.
  • Legal authorities — when legally required by court order, subpoena, or applicable law.
  • Service providers — trusted infrastructure partners (hosting, email) under strict data processing agreements.

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third-party data brokers.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Encryption in transit — all connections use TLS 1.3.
  • Encryption at rest — sensitive data including evidence files and communications are encrypted.
  • Role-based access — each user sees only data relevant to their cases and role.
  • Regular backups — automated daily backups with encrypted off-site storage.
  • Access logging — all access to sensitive data is logged and monitored.

6. Data Retention

  • Case records: Retained for 7 years after case closure (legal requirement in most jurisdictions).
  • Evidence: Retained indefinitely or until explicitly deleted by the submitting user, whichever comes first.
  • Account data: Deleted 90 days after account closure, except where retention is legally required.
  • Technical logs: Retained for 12 months for security analysis.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Export — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Restriction — request restricted processing while a dispute is resolved.

Note: Evidence records that have been submitted to legal proceedings or shared with legal authorities cannot be unilaterally deleted, as they form part of the legal record.

To exercise your rights, contact privacy@getjustly.org.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies for session management and security (CSRF protection). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

9. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in data centers located outside your home country. When transferring data internationally, we ensure adequate protection through standard contractual clauses and appropriate technical safeguards compliant with the African Union Convention on Cyber Security (Malabo Convention) and applicable national data protection laws.
