Preserving Digital Evidence

Why Evidence Preservation Matters

Digital evidence can be altered or deleted. GetJustly's preservation tools create a tamper-proof record by:

  • Timestamping — recording the exact date and time of capture.
  • Hashing — creating a unique cryptographic fingerprint of each file.
  • Chain of custody — logging who uploaded, accessed, or modified evidence.

How to Preserve Evidence

  1. Go to Evidence in the sidebar.
  2. Click Upload Evidence.
  3. Select your files (photos, documents, audio, video).
  4. Add a description and link to a case if applicable.
  5. The system generates a preservation certificate you can download.
